24th Free Health Checkup Camp

Reaching Out to Minority Tribes The 24th free health checkup camp, part of an ongoing series since June 2016, took us to Hehal Birhor colony, home to the Birhor and Malhor minority tribes, located 12 km from the main town. Despite challenges like poor road connectivity, we attended to the health needs of the community. While only a few pregnant ladies could attend due to these challenges, we served a significant number of children, adolescent girls and boys, and elderly individuals with free consultations, blood tests, medicines, and valuable counseling sessions on cleanliness, hygiene, and education. The camp was inaugurated by Mukhia Smt. Kashi Devi and Pradeep Sharma, ward member, with the whole team from Dr. Sharan Mother & Child Health Care Centre, along with Truth, an NGO in Ramgarh, demonstrating unwavering zeal in serving the community. During our visit on May 9th, 2018, to the Birhor colony, we also had the opportunity to interact with teachers and students at the village school. It was evident that they were in a primitive stage and highly deprived of basic facilities such as drinking water, sanitation, and food. This experience highlighted the pressing need for extensive ground-level work to uplift these communities.
